The Greenville Jazz Collective Jazz Underground series presents Atlanta vocalist Gwen Hughes and her brand new program “Jazz of the Soul” that takes you on a joyful journey of her unique blend of music, especially jazz and soul.
Gwen draws on musical influences including singers Nancy Wilson, Carmen McRae, and Arethra Franklin, among many others. And so, her new program includes many familiar jazz, soul, and great American standard tunes…and you might be surprised how some come with an unexpected twist (but you’ll only know if you show up to listen!)
It’s been a while since this Greenville native (and Furman graduate) has made it back here to perform, so we’re excited that the Jazz Underground Series is the first place “on the road” she has chosen to share this joyful journey of Jazz and Soul.
She’ll be performing in our venue, the Coffee Underground Theater, which is an intimate listening room which also serves homemade desserts, delicious coffee from beans roasted on premises, and an assortment of teas, wine, and cocktails.
